How BPO Agents Get Paid: Invoices, Timing and Tracking

Vendors pay on different schedules. Here is how to keep track of what you are owed.

Completing the report is only half the job; getting paid is the other half. Vendors differ in how and when they pay, so a little tracking goes a long way.

How payment usually works

Most vendors pay per completed and accepted report, as an independent contractor payment. Some pay automatically on a schedule; others require you to submit an invoice through the portal.

Typical timing

Payment often arrives weeks after the report is accepted, commonly 30 to 45 days, and varies by vendor. Revisions can delay payment until the report is finally approved.

Track every order

Keep a simple sheet with:

  • Vendor and order number.
  • Fee.
  • Date submitted and date approved.
  • Date paid and amount received.

Review it monthly. Anything unpaid after the vendor's normal window deserves a polite follow-up.

Taxes

As an independent contractor you will usually receive year-end tax forms from vendors. Keep your records organised and speak to a tax professional about your situation.

Cash flow

Because payment lags, your first busy month may not pay out until the following month. Plan for it.
